Handling of Brake Pad and How to Resolve the Noise

Importance of Replacement for Brake Pad

Frictions material of brake pad is worn out with the use. Under the condition that friction material is worn more than prescribed, it may cause of reduction of braking because of rapid wear.

Also, these may lead to a damage to brake disc or brake drum.

Indication of Replacement for Brake Pad

The wear of brake pad is vary depending on braking of driver and driving condition. We recommend a inspection at the maintenance shop after 20,000km running.

When the remaining thickness of the pad becomes less than 5mm, the temperature of friction material is easy to rise and the brake pad wear quickly. Therefore, we recommend the replacement at the thickness of 5 mm.

If it is delayed replacing pads

Contact between backing plate and brake disc because friction materials were completely worn out. Brake disc was also damaged. Caliper where the thin pad is displaced from inside the bracket and scrapes against the brake disc to damage the yoke.

These situations will cause the replacement of brake disc or a caliper and will take extra cost.
More importantly, it is very dangerous.

Brief Description of the Mechanism of Noise

When applying brakes, brake pads is forced against both sides of the rotor and stop the wheel. While braking operation, friction vibration will occur between the friction material of pads and brake disc.

The friction vibration resonate with piston, caliper, suspension and wheels etc. and will cause noises. Also these noises sometimes occur due to overlapping of various conditions, such as material of pads, condition of brake disc and caliper, weather, temperature or speed of the car.

How to Replace the Brake Pads

*Brakes are important safety parts. Please make sure the brake operation reliably after the replacement of brakes.
*We recommend the replacement by mechanics or at maintenance garages.
